"Noveir! Get off the roof this minute! You are going to get fried!"
Shouted his mother as she motioned him to get down from the roof. Novier usually spent his time sitting on whatever highpoint he could find when a storm rolled in and usually that meant climbing on top of the roof of his house and becoming soaked by the rainfall. Novier often skipped around helping the other farmers in the fields so that he might spend time in the forest, admiring all of its splendor. But this was not the only reason he went to the forest. His father's grave lay nestled deep within. Though on a fateful day on one of his trips to the grave a storm was brewing and a balverine that had strayed a ways from its natural environment and found itself in the same forest that Novier was trecking through.
The beast stalked Novier through the forest with no hint of his presence. The storm raged and the rain soon began to fall and the moon would also soon become prevalent. The young Novier soon felt the presence of another and certainly felt threatened and scared. As he approached the grave of his father the balverine leaped towards Novier from behind! If it was for the fact that rumbling of the bushes he had heard from before hand, Novier might of been mauled but instead he dove into the mud! The Balvierene crashed into his father's grave, destroying the testament of his father's death. The beast picked itself up from the rubble and turned its gaze to Novier with his fangs fully exposed and drenched in saliva! It then leaped towards Noveria with its claws stretched out and eyes set upon his frail body!
Noveria quickly picked up a piece of rubble that had fallen from the grave stone and plunged it towards the incoming balverine! A lightning bolt struck down as the piece of rubble was lodged into the beast's eye! Novier then covered his eyes as the beast flailed in pain and anger! The claws went in every direction and closed in on Novier but then the beast let out a foul screach! The balveriene then fell into the mud face first and lied motionless with an arrow protruding from its hairy back.
A man stepped forth from the bushes wearing an olive colored cloak and picked the arrow from the creature's back and then slowly walked to Novier. "Are you alright child?" Asked the strange man. Novier knew not what to think. The only thing left of his father now lied in ruins. He was almost brutally mauled by a balveriene. "No I'm not alright! I'm scared and want to go home!" said Novier with tears running down his cheeks. The strange man smiled and picked the boy up from the mud and cradled him carefully as they made their way back to Oakfield.
As soon as they arrived the mother wept tears of joy at her son's return. She then took him inside and tucked him in for bed but the cloaked man was not leaving just yet. The mother came back to the door and offered him a a small reward of ten gold seeing as that was all she had but the man refused. Instead he proposed to take the boy to the Guild and raise him as a hero. He then professed that he watched the woman's son use will without thought, causing a lightning bolt to strike down and tear down a tree. He then told her that such an ability would never surface again unless he was to have training and harness the ability.
The mother agreed to let her boy go with the cloaked hero under the reason that there was nothing there in Oakfield for someone with such potential. The boy trained in the guild for many years harnessing his talent to use Will. But during one of his exercises, Novier lost control of lightning spell and severely scared his half of his face. He then adorned a mask to cover this area. Novier graduated with flying colors and was regarded one of the more prominent Will users.
